The Wind Ensemble is comprised of approximately 50 students in grades 9-12. Selection into the ensemble is determined by auditions in the spring.The ensemble begins rehearsal at the conclusion of marching band and performs at three concerts and district music festival throughout the year. The Wind Ensemble has consistently received top ratings at the MSHSAA State Music Festival. In 2014, they performed at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. Every member performs either a solo or small ensemble at the district music festival. Several members are annually accepted to All-District and All-State ensembles.
The Symphonic Band is comprised of 90 students in grades 9-12. The ensemble meets at the conclusion of marching season and performs at three concerts and one festival throughout the year. During the year students focus on an intermediate level of tone, articulation, technique & a greater understanding of rhythm groupings. They also begin to learn a basic understanding of musicality and phrasing. The Symphonic Band has consistently earned top ratings at the MSHSAA State Festival.
The Chamber Ensemble program consists of approximately 20-30 Winds and Percussionists during the fall semester. Students develop technical and musical skills through a series of mock auditions based around the All-District audition music. Additionally, students are divided into chamber ensembles to work on advance ensemble concepts. All members of the Chamber Ensemble class are expected to audition for All-District band and perform their chamber ensemble on the Winter Concert.
